It’s shaping up to be a good day!

Today is going pretty well, and my spirits have definitely been lifted!

I got a call about a job interview this morning. I applied for this position about 8 weeks ago and never heard back, so I figured it was a moot point. Not at all! They called to see if I was still interested, and told me that I would have a phone interview “sometime this week.”  Exciting!  I’m not sure that I want to go from one highly-structured (aka: stuffy) environment to another, but the opportunities for pay and advancement, not to mention the resume building potential, would be huge at this company.  Dare I submit to the strenuous FBI background check and whatnot? Hmm! It’s a heavy-duty background check, too. Thankfully, I have many friends that masquerade as goodie-two-shoes by day!

I also submitted my resume this morning to a publishing company. I also sent it to a friend (er, the one I accidentally bit over the weekend…yeah that’s a bit embarressing) to forward along to the hiring people. He did so, and it sounds like there is already some interest. Apparently the HR manager wants to talk to the friend about me today or tomorrow. The friend asked me, “What should I tell him? That you have good incisors?” Ha ha! Smartass! That job would be closer to home and probably involve a lot more flexibility, which definitely appeals to me.

Either way, I’m excited that I get a few options to grapple with!  This option-less economy has been a real bummer… Wish me luck on rocking out the interviews, when/if I get to that stage with both opportunities! If I do, I’ll be sure to blog about it.

More good news: My camera arrived! I got the delivery confirmation via email this morning! I can now spam my blog with photos asap!

I have dinner plans with a friend today, which is too bad because I really do have a ton of laundry to do. I’m going to be down in NYC for the final City trip of the year. I’m looking forward to it: it’s going to be an unplanned, fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants visit. Those are my favorite kinds! I hope I can stumble into some good shopping and good live music this weekend. That, and just walking around a bit, sound lovely.  The temperature is supposed to be fantastic, too. Maybe I’ll just read a book on a blanket in Central Park!
