Check it out, everyone! This morning I weighed in at 128.8!! I can’t believe it! I’m so excited and so happy! I’ve never ever been in the 120’s before. It’s a brand new number, a brand new milestone!

I am only a little over three pounds from my final goal weight. I had originally thought I would make the 100-pounds lost mark around February (the 2-year anniversary of my band), but now I think I may reach my final weight before Christmas! Unbelieveable!  Of course, my reward for making my final weight was a trip to Las Vegas, and now that I’m out of work, it doesn’t appear that I’ll be able to take that trip.  I’ll have to think of something else cheaper and closer to home to do for a reward, because I WILL MAKE MY GOAL!!

You know, for the longest time I wasn’t sure if I’d make my final goal weight at all. I had never been lower than 150 pounds in my adult life, and I honestly didn’t know what my body was even capable of achieving. I hoped that I could make 125 pounds, but I wasn’t sure if it was possible or a realistic goal. Now I realize that it is possible, and I’m so close to my goal I can practically smell it!

Yesterday my hubby was supposed to take a half a day off from work so we could go to a museum & lecture together. It turns out that hubby’s tummy wasn’t well, so he stayed home all day. We didn’t go to the museum at all. Instead, I went to the gym and did four miles on the treadmill. Then in the evening we went to the pub near the house and DESTROYED EVERYONE in pub trivia! We were the first place team at halftime (we won a prize) and also won at the end of the night (we won another prize). We gave our halftime prizes away to the 2nd place team….gotta be good sports, you know?  One of hubby’s friends, Thomas, met us at the bar again. Thomas is a super smart, super sweet guy that for some bizarre reason doesn’t do too well with the ladies. I think he’s too insecure and shy to put himself out there very often. When we arrived, Thomas was chatting up a girl at the bar! OMG!  So when we sat down I chatted up the girl to find out more about her. Turns out she works with Thomas but they didn’t come to the bar together; they just accidentally ran into each other!  She’s brand new to the area (moved here 2 months ago) and has zero friends here yet, and was *SO HAPPY* to have run into Thomas! I ended up inviting her to my house for girls night on Saturday so she can meet a few new people. She’s super sweet, seems really fun…I hope Thomas asked for her phonenumber after we left them chatting at the bar!

I got a few questions yesterday, people wondering how my writing has been going. This week I honestly haven’t done very much writing on my book at all; instead, I compiled a lot of my data into a few Wikipedia articles. I hope to sit down and get some writing done today and next week. I’m afraid that my mojo has dwindled a little bit; I sent a draft of what I have done to a few people, and nobody had anything particularly encouraging to say; the only real comments I got back were nit-picky editorial comments which I really don’t need at this stage.

We’re refinancing our mortgage to lock in a lower interest rate, and the house inspector should be here in 20 minutes so I better change out of my PJs! Have a great day everyone!

135.8 pounds (89.2 pounds lost!)

I round up when I weigh, to give myself the benefit of the doubt. Therefore,

Total victory! What a great way to start off this labor day weekend!

This is a pretty landmark weight for me, not only because it is (yet again) an all-time low for me and leaves me a mere 10 pounds from my final goal weight, but get this…my BMI is now officially 24.7, which makes me “normal” instead of “overweight!” I am officially in a “healthy weight zone” for the first time in my adult life!

I would really love to reach my goal weight by the end of February, which is my 2-year “band-i-versary.”  10 pounds in five months. That’s 2 pounds per month; half a pound per week. That’s do-able, yes?  The last few months I have noticed my body get into a weight-loss pattern: about four days after my period I drop two pounds. Then I don’t lose anything for an entire month, until my period comes again. Then I do a big drop again. If I continue with this pattern, I think I can make my goal by February! Of course there are the holidays thrown in there, and losing weight during the holidays is difficult — but not impossible! Yes, I think I can do this!

I heard this great new song on Sirius this morning. It’s by Foster the People called “Pumped up Kicks” and adequately reflects my mood today: happy, but laid back and ready to chill out!

I decided to try my curly hair again today. I still think I look like a poodle! LOL!

Here’s a few new bloggers that I’ve been pleased to meet in the last week or two:

  • Angela, a new bandster
  • Another Angela, oddly enough, a somewhat new bandster, but new to me!
  • This lovely lady has apparently been around for a long time (she’s got a bajillion followers) but she’s awesome and a great writer. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed her blog so far!
  • Shannon, a new follower of mine! Hello Shannon!
  • Lena, a brand-new bandster! She’s 2 weeks out from surgery.

Reward Day! Massage, Crepes, & Party!

Friday after work I met up with my friend Billi. She’s a sweetheart, and it was so nice to catch up with her!

We met at a restaurant and we shared an appetizer (bruchetta. OMG this restaurant has to-die-for bruchetta. I had 2 small slices) and then we decided instead of a meal we would split two deserts! We shared a canoli and some carrot cake.

Afterwards, I went up to Saratoga to the racino. I watched the harness track races for a little bit and lost $20 in the slot machines.  It was a relaxing way to pass a few hours.

I couldn’t wait for Saturday though! Saturday was my reward day! For losing 80 pounds, I wanted to reward myself with a 1 hour massage + mineral bath + sauna time.  My friend Danielle agreed to go with me. We went up to Saratoga Springs and oh, what a beautiful day it was! 70 degrees and sunny and absolutely perfect.  The sauna was warm and wonderful. The mineral bath was warm and relaxing. The massage was PERFECT and felt oh-so-good! I was particularly curious to know how the massage would feel after losing 80 pounds. Indeed I could tell a difference! Before I would have to tell the masseuse “please feel free to really press hard and get in there” because, let’s face it, there was a substantial amount of fat protecting against the muscles! This time I didn’t have to tell the masseuse that.  I could feel it in my muscles even more than before. The massage felt better this time than ever before!

Afterwards we were saying what a value the massage was. The Crystal Spa offers the 1 hour massage + mineral bath + sauna for only $90. That’s a real bargain! But I don’t want to have it all the time; some things are meant to be a real treat and reward, and massages are something that I like to keep in that “special circumstance” scenario.  I wish that going out to restaurants to eat is also something that is revered as a special occasion thing, but unfortunately it’s so commonplace with my household that it’s not special at all. I would like to try to change that little by little, if possible.

Afterwards we headed to downtown Saratoga for a special lunch. I really wanted a crepe to finish off the reward!  Ravenous is a wonderful crepe restaurant with real authentic French crepes, just like the ones I used to eat when I lived in Paris!  I couldn’t wait to order my favorite: nutella + banana.  Danielle ordered asparagus + goat cheese + tomatoes.  Both were delicious!

After a little bit of shopping downtown, we headed home to go to our neighbor’s pool party.

Before I went to the party, I wanted to make darn sure that I had healthy food on hand to munch on. I made a two-avocado bowl of fresh guacamole (I make awesome guac! It was devoured within seconds) and a large bowl of gazpacho soup.  I’m so glad that I had the foresight to bring over some healthy foods because there was nothing healthy to be found there! I had about 3 scoops of my guac with some nacho chips, plus two bowls of my gazpacho. I had 2 beers while I was there too (over the course of 8 hours) plus two butterscotch shots. I also managed to play a little volleyball and swim a little bit. I can’t call any of that really exercising, but I at least got a little movement in.

As a surprise, my hubby shaved his beard off! In all the years that I’ve known him, this is only the 2nd time he’s been beard-free. It was strange, like looking at a stranger, but nope, that’s still my awesome hubby! This morning he was proud to share that he’s lost almost 30 pounds!  I’m so proud of him!

I only have 12 pounds to go until I get to my goal of losing 100 pounds. This morning the scale was at 137.2.  I can lose this last 12 pounds, but I need to really focus on this and watch my eating better. My goal for reaching my 100 pound lost goal? Las Vegas baby!!  My 2-year bandiversary is at the end of February, and I would love to be at my goal weight by then.

She met her goal weight!

Today Bitch Cakes (who is a totally amazing blogger, by the way) reached her goal weight! Her description of the anxiety-filled day as she waited for her Weight Watchers weigh-in, followed by her celebratory workout and rewards really got me choked up! I sat here crying like a little baby at my desk at work.

It makes me wonder…I’m so close to reaching my goal weight! After so many years! I wonder…what will that day be like? What will that moment feel like?

Congrats Bitch Cakes!!!
