If I’m being honest…

Okay I admit it. I’m partially looking forward to visiting my family in two weeks because I’m secretly hoping for a “WOW you’ve lost so much weight” reaction from them.

I’ve gotten very few of those reactions in my daily life. I think this is partially because I see most of the important people in my life very often. (To be honest, the fact that I get so few reactions is really bothersome to me, but I try really hard not to dwell on it.) The people that live around here probably don’t notice the change as much.  when I do get reactions, it’s more like, “You look great, Christine! But, of course, I didn’t think you needed to lose any weight beforehand.”  How paradoxical!

However, my family hasn’t seen me in a year, so the change should be noticeable.

I hope.

‘Cmon. It’s 85 pounds. Eighteen clothing sizes. That’s not “chump change,” right?

I hope I get a couple of amazed reactions.

Maybe I should just tell my mom and dad of the reaction that I’m hoping for, that way I don’t get stuck in “missed expectations” and be disappointed?

First, CONGRATS on 85 lbs down, I am very sure it’s visible!

Second, if people who haven’t seen you in a year don’t say anything . . . . it’s because they don’t know if it’s polite or not.

Congrats on your success! Love the name, love the blog, love it all!!!!

I was wondering, did you have surgery, or did you just stop eating and lose weight ? Looks great…

But if you DO tell them and they say something nice, how will you know it’s genuine? You see the conundrum I’m sure.

I think they’ll notice right off….I mean, they’d be silly not to wouldn’t they? You’ve lost tons, you look fantastic and DUH..it’s kind of obvious!

    Have fun!

I DO indeed see the conundrum! I suppose I could just stop caring so much what others think. But dang, that’s so hard to do!

I just found your blog and I am working my way through it. Congratulations on your awesome loss. You look amazing and it is wonderful to see. My start weight was 226 so it is so great to see someone who started where I did and is doing so amazing. I am sure your family will notice your loss. Although I do agree that some people don’t know how to address that for fear if they say “wow you have lost alot of weight” that it means they are saying you had a ton of weight to lose…it’s a double edged sword. You are doing a great job and you have made me feel better about not reaching my goal weight in 6 months (which is unrealistic I know!!)

Hi Jennifer! Thanks for stopping by! That’s awesome that you started at 226…just a pound difference from me! What are you at now? (I tried to visit your blog but your link doesn’t work!) Yeah I think 6 months is a little unrealistic, unless your superhuman of course! It seems like this last 20 pounds is going to be SLOWW GOING. If I can lose the rest of my weight by Christmas, I’ll be thrilled!
